Hi everyone. I'm looking to pick up a cheaper LR to use as a winter beater, large dog transporter, and light tow vehicle. I've done some reading about the U-joints and whatnot. The seller is looking for zerk fittings and will get back to me. Any other issues with the 02 Discos I should be aware of?

A mechanic has owned it for the last 7 months and 6k miles before trading it into the dealer.

Depends on how much you can get him down I guess. But honestly it looks like his reserve is going to be too high. His buy it now is too high imo. Especially with all of that bumper damage. You might as well aim for an 03/04. I'm not positive if the 02 has CDL or not but you should look into that. I would also factor in how much time/money it will take to get those ugly wheels off and get some suitable land rover or steel wheels and all terrain tires on that sucker. However if you just plan on keeping it pretty much stock, then it might do you fine for light purposes. Still, it looks like a clean truck, but I would try to see this thing in person.

 

Looks like a pretty clean truck. I hate those wheels though. Toss a winch bumper and another set of wheels on it ;-)

To be honest with you, that is about what a clean Disco in my area sells for. He could actually probably get his asking price here even with the smashed bumper.
