Default How to Drive Offroad in a Land Rover

I did not know these videos existed until today. They are a great resource for a Land Rover overlander. Perhaps make it a sticky?

Honestly just go with people that know. It's good to watch the videos to get a better understanding, but real world experience 100% necessary. If you ever make it to an actual event, there are plenty of people that would be happy to help you learn.

First of all, I agree with you about learning from other about real world experience.

However, we do get questions from newbies on this forum often asking about the off-road capabilities of the Disco, CDL or no CDL needed, what lift to get, tire sizing, etc. The videos provide quite a bit of insight into these topics.

Re: "you ever make it to an actual event, there are plenty of people that would be happy to help you learn".

We do quite technical runs on our club runs. Yes, we always love to teach newbies about the basics of airing down when needed, dropping to low gear when descending offorad, etc. We get up to 20+ folks show up to our monthly runs. It is hard to give intimate personal attention to the newbies while we are also handling logistics and navigation. I would have like to have club newbies watch the videos for the DOs and DONTs for their and our respective safety before they go out for runs. Have you seen the entire video?

I hear the NE US and Canada are great places for overlanding excursions. I would love to do a trip there sometime. And visit you guys at Rover North!

You're welcome to come here, and there are definitely great trails and things to see; but if you really want to "overland", it's hard to beat a lot of the places in Canada. Especially Yukon
