I think that raised collar is to help line up the gasket and head and it's like that on all D2 motors and not something that failed on yours in particular, I think. It should fit inside that bolt hole in the head just fine and sit flush once installed.

I love your enthusiasm in your video. Good ole Texas boys! I'm just south of San Antonio in Floresville, Tx if you ever need anything.

Longview, TX here.

I remember collars on both sides for the gaskets. Be sure to check carefully that nothing ( collars ) has fallen in your cylinders... I started an engine with an unseen bolt in a cylinder and it was no bueno.

Clean engine. Looks nice. I like your video.

It seemed like it was out of place because there was nothing similar to it anywhere else on the block surface. I appreciate the advice and I’m sure I’ll have questions down the road so I’ll keep you in mind.

Yeah I could be wrong about it being there to help line up the gasket, it has been 90kmiles and 4 years since i had my heads off, but I could have sworn I remember there being something like that on my block also to hold the gasket in the correct position while installing the heads.

I have the heads off my 4.6L right now. There are two collars on each side to act as guides for the gaskets and the heads.
