Default How long to bleed

Just changed all brake lines to new.

Got a pressure bleeder from AB to bleed the brakes.
Fillled the master cylinder, hooked the bleeder up to my compressor, hit the trigger, then cracked the bleeder valve.

About 30 seconds later, i started seeing fluid in the clear hose, but after about 2 minutes later, all I still see is some fluid wisking in the hose, but not even close to a solid stream with bubbles in it. Already went thru about a 1/2 pint of fluid.

How long is this suppose to take?

I've been pumping on the rear right for over a hour. I have dumped 64 oz of fluid into the master and recovered 32 oz.

I am still sucking air. I can see it in the clear tube.

Even tried putting some blue grease around the sides of the bleeder valve to see if I was sucking the air in that way.

I have gotten in the truck and pumped the pedal several times.

I am not leaking anywhere I can see. Nothing on the floor!

I don't think I have enough pressure to even limp it to a shop!

Where in the heck did 32oz of fluid go????

HELP!!!!!!

I'm not sure where all your fluid is going (and i think i recall that 64oz is about normal...) but you need to activate the ABS to bleed the brakes properly. Either with a computer tool that has that feature or by putting the transfer case in low range, speeding up to 20mph or so and then activating the hill decent control feature to slow down. That will force fluid through the ABS and air out of the complete system.

Then bleed again, then repeat until pedal is firm.

Keep in mind that this may not work if you have the three amigos along for the ride.

there is also a way to activate the abs at the relay, I haven't done it.
I came across it on the Austy LR forum, but it's probably not different than jumping any other relay?

Well, I would be interested in this as I am scared to even get it rolling to activate the hill decent.

What computer can I buy locally on a Sunday that will allow me to activate the modulator for a bleed?

Thanks, I'll start calling everywhere.

What I don't understand, is there are many that state they bleed everything after a simple brake line change without the need of a computer. I don't understand why I am having so much trouble.

Can you bleed the modulator with just pumping, hold the pedal, and releasing the top module brake lines? I've read where people did this, I just don't want to introduce even more air!

How did you bleed your brakes after changing your lines?

Vacuum bleeders suck (pun intended).

If you have the blender open too far they will suck in air around the bleeder. I prefer pressure bleeders like the motive, but you risk blowing the seals from the master to reservoir.

Try tightening the bleeder just a little. Or maybe temporarily wrap it with Teflon tape. Just don't block the hole.
