I have an 01 disco 2... the head gasket went in aug. The truck has been sitting and mechanic says at this point it would need a new engine. Been trying to sell as is, but now considering possibly fixing it. What am i looking at for rebuilt or new enginge cost wise? Could as use work on abs modulator az well...

 

Paying for someone else to do it w/ reman engine, 6k+, yourself, maybe a 3k performance build.

 

Why new engine?
Did he pull the heads off?
Did it over heat?

If it did not over heat
and the heads were not pulled off then the mechanic may be talking out of his a

So, pull the heads then and get to work.
