How much is a Kalahari Edition worth?
I've been looking for one of these for a while and I recently found what looks to be an authentic Kalahari D2 locally in gray. I always liked the gray Kalahari edition, but never thought I would be able to get my hands on one. This is the first one I've ever seen.
The exterior paint is in rough condition, hood is peeling, missing the A pillar trim but the rims look good. Bull bar and light guards are rusting a bit and need powder coating. Interior is decent, but not great. Runs good, doesn't overheat. Has the 3 amigos, etc. ~150k miles. I'm pretty sure the guy has no clue what he has got. He's asking $1200. Thoughts?

would do a little more thorough undercarriage inspection, have someone turn the wheel back and forth and look for worn steering parts, sloppy u joints, rust, etc. Its the nickel and dime stuff that really makes the vehicle expensive.
also run an exhaust gas test to be 100% certain on head gasket or liner condition. Takes 10 minutes and a $20 tool.
if its solid and doesn't need every other damn part replaced, offer him $1000 and enjoy.
keep in mind that a factory quality paint job (or better considering the factory paint is about par for the course...which is ****) is going to cost you several times what the vehicle is worth, unless you are a paint and body guy. if so, disregard.
