Default how much power can the stock amp produce?

I wanted to power these 6.5 subs I bought but hooked them up and saw no real increase, I was wondering how much power a factory 96 disco amp can produce. Also is there a place to buy new connections? My 4 prong plug in one slot has a wire cut all the way at the bottom so its impossiblr to wire a new piece to it in order to hook up the sub. I had to jam the wire down in there to make contact for a temporary fix

ok so they work and sound good but im looking for a little more thump. can the factory amp handle all the speakers and subs plus another 10 or 12 in sub? if it can how would i go about wiring it up? would i splice into the wires of one of the 6.5? thanks

Just based on the size of the amp, I'd guess it's about a 50 watt'er (25/channel).

It will probably drive two 6" HIGH quality subs (spl 89 or greater) with enough thump to feel it.

consider that the land rover sound systems are designed for grownups, not to impress the people a block away with exterior parts rattling as you drive by. (no disrespect intended).

unless you want to rewire the truck, it'll not support the demands of a hi-watt system.

I'm over 60, 2yrs ago I installed an alpine head, eight boston acoustics powered by an alpine 100 wtt.4ch, two jl audio12" in a bandpass powered by a sony 900watt xplode in my daughter's SLS - running the wiring & mounting took two days of busting my butt.

unless you're doing it right, don't have high expectations of the result.

luck,greg

to sum up an answer to your question yes and no, yes it should give you more sound and deeper bass but no unless you can find a very low wattage sub you will be overheating the amp and under-powering the sub causing damage to both. in the mobile electronic industry it is a simple formula we use; if you want more volume you need more power! (actually you need 2X more power to achieve a 3Db gain) and if you want lower frequencies you need larger speakers. my suggestion would be to buy a cheap used bass package, or a sub amp combo unit I see them pretty cheap quite often.

If I were to get a new headunit as well such as the jvc kd r600 which has one set of rear rcas, what else would I need besides what is listed here for install

Land rover wiring harness
Antenna adapter
Pac-oem adapter(has wires coming out both ends as well as four rcas on one side)

If this is all I need how would I go about wiring this? I've never had to wire a sysytem using an amp
