Hmmm, well taken care of + needs engine AND tranny. Wow, how did the diffs and tcase survive?

I'm going to go $1000 tops, if you have a donor lined up. Otherwise just not worth the headaches.

Hey all, I definitely need to look at it this weekend. I priced out a trans and engine today -$2500(used) with 113k, supposedly. I was thinking of maybe flipping it. Gas in CA sucks bad, don't know if it will be worth it. My labor to do the work is free, I pay my guys per day, so as long as we are not super busy, it will get done. I will post how the actual condition is after I see it hopefully this weekend. thanks for all the responses so far, its cool to be a LR owner.

so $1000 for the truck, $2500 for the motor and tranny,$500 for fluids, hoses and misc. So you have $4000 w/o labor into a truck worth say $5000, even if you have illegals install it, were is the profit in flipping it?

Yeah you can't flip these trucks my rebuilding them....

You flip them by selling them as is to someone else who "thinks" they can flip them....

In CA, the price of these trucks range from $7-9k. This is the reason I thought I can possibly flip it..keeping it for myself is another option, but until I see it, who knows.

DiscoBoy, is you can get $7 to $9 k for a 2002 in Northern Cal, I will gladly send you both of mine. Down in So Cal, people are asking that much, usually dealers, but in reality, they are going for around $4 to $5k. On a positive note, I filled up in Palm Springs yesterday, $4.55 a gallon, back in San Diego last night it was ONLY $4.25, what a deal. If you decide to go forward, I did the same thing on our 2000 DII, luckily, it didn't need a new motor, just head gaskets, radiator, water pump,........ Good luck Phil

I don't know about you guys but where I'm from the best you can do getting rid of a vehicle that doesn't run is not have to pay the guy to come tow it away. sure he could part it out but it would take years to get rid of everything and a lot of time and runs to the post office. He would be smart to take what ever you offer.
