I painted my Disco 1 a few years back with Rustoleum Double Coat Almond. I sprayed first with 2 cans of primer then used a 4" roller to apply 2 good coats of
the paint. Lying on my back taking these.
Make sure you lightly sand any really rough spots or it will show through. Repair any problems while head liner is out, sun roofs motors, sun roof drains etc. If you have a rear sun roof, there's a screw under that back roof panel, pop that tab out to get to it.

Also, denatured alcohol worked great to prep the surface after the old fabric and the bulk of the old, orange, crumbling foam was removed with a stiff brush and the vacuum. The alcohol dissolved the old adhesive and left a residue-free service. The pebbly look of the fiberglass is sharp. No sanding required.
