Default How to Unlock Disco.

I have a 2001 Discovery. My only key broke ani lost the end of the blade. I do have the transmitter with the two buttons for the door locks and alarm. The transmitter will not unlock but it does activate the lights on side of vehicle. The previous owner changed the ignition so it has a separate key. How do I get into my truck?

Do you have AAA? They can open the door

Any way you can use a long rod to push the door unlock button on the dash?

I do not have AAA and I know it would just lock itself again. I have been locked in it before and had to push the door frame out enough th pass the key out to another person. But since the door key has disappeared. Only have the transmitter part of key now.

You can drill out the door lock cylinder. Or the long rod

Same thing happened to me 10+ years ago. A mobile locksmith fished out the blade from the door cylinder and cut a new key (or two) for me. For the time being, a basic ILCO RV4 or RV4-P is fine. You can then order a replacement keyless entry handset shell and blade and get that cut. And at the same time you can sort out why the keyless entry system isn't working. From what you said about the side marker lights flashing, it seems the problem is not with the transmitter or the receiver behind the headliner.

Contact a mobile locksmith and get going!
