Thank you for the write-up. I just installed a new window regulator in my 1999 Discovery using your directions. They were easy to follow and the pictures were extremely helpful. Thanks again.

Check out my write up, you might like it. It will only cost you about 5 bucks and a couple of hours of quality garage time. Search "window regulators done right"

Used this thread today to replace the front drivers side regulator motor. Got the motor install and it works but the window is not moving at all and wont stay up when I manually slip it all the way up. I know I need a roller but I think the big issue is that the gear moon thing is not synced with the teeth of the motor gear.... have to take it all back out and start over again I guess.

Done! I forgot to make sure the crescent gear was in the track where the motor gear is, took everything apart and reassembled the right way and now my window works great. Thanks to the original poster and the recent comets that suggested to install motor and mount to door before attaching window. Made the job alot easier.

I just did this fix, and everyything has worked except the piece that is attache to the window had come loose. So it will go up, but when you roll it down it just gets stuck.

I assume that the "window holder" or whatever it would be called is attached to the window not just by gravity. Mine is really rusted out and warped.

Has anyone found that piece or am i going to have to install an entirely new window?

Check with some of the guys that disassemble Rovers. There are a few of them in the "For Sale" section. They should be able to get that piece for you.
