looks okay to me as far as I can tell. Reason it's apart is one of the screws backed out on the inside of the cover, and the screw broke the timing chain.
Screws weren't loctited or staked... Nice new Cannibal motor bought and installed by preious owner. "Quality"...
That's no good. Your oil pressure will be well below spec. These parts have to be perfectly machined. You can get a good used replacement for half the price of a new one that will work just as well. Did you check the drained oil for contaminants?

Drained oil was very clean. Most metal in pan was large pieces of timing chain. Motor is coming out and coming all the way apart to clean and check all the bearings, etc.
So are you saying pump gears are bad or cover is as well? Thank you for the reply!

I would replace it all. There's a lot of heavy scoring too much to chance on reusing.
Roger, appreciate the replies. I will start searching a little more for a good price today after I pull the motor. Any suggestions on "best place to buy"? As with many Rover parts, it's not cheap...
It really depends how deep the scoring is, judging from the photos it all looks a bit rough. IMO if you are stripping the engine in total it would be good to replace the pump also as any metal fatigue damage may be invisible to the naked eye. As already mentioned, try LR Direct as they are very competitive.
Different Cannibal Motor but more pics of their quality work. This one knocked from day one and had oil pressure issues. Cannibal did not stand behind their product in any way. The knocking was the pistons smacking off the top hat liners. Wrist pins were bound up and the final insult to injury on this 5.0 Performance build? Standard 4.6 parts all the way through.... No grind to the crank and stock rods, pistons appear to be aftermarket stock replacement. Still digging on that.
