Default Is the hub nut (360 ft lbs) the highest torque needed on a Disco?

Weighing a Hazet torque wrench purchase that goes up to 800nm (about 590 ft lbs) with how often I seem to be replacing hubs. Right now I've been using a Tekton that goes up to 300 ft lbs and then giving it an extra umhph when it reaches it's max. If hub nuts are the only thing requiring that much torque, I'll just get by the the Tekton. I need more things to torque at or above that value to justify the purchase. So far the next highest torque I've experienced with the Disco are the radius arm bolts at 170 ft lbs. which is in range of the Tekton of course.

I think the hub nut might be the highest. The next highest I am aware of is the crank shaft pulley bolt at 200.

Nice buy!
For the rest of us, how do y'all torque yours? Use your standard torque wrench to get to 150, and guess by feel after that? Hit it with 5 ugga-duggas from the impact and call it "good enough"? I've been planning on doing hubs soon, and would love to hear some opinions

I had a Tekton 300 ft-lbs torque wrench and then once it maxed, gave it an extra push. https://amzn.to/3vJRJ9I

Unpopular opinion perhaps, but getting at least this wrench is just the cost of DIY'ing Disco hubs. The price of these not being torqued down all the way is a wheel coming off while you're driving or having to do this semi-regularly as hubs are destroyed from endless vibration. And axle splines will eventually start to wear down from the added stress too. And with the way hubs are being produced lately, you'll have to do this again anyway, so the wrench will get a lot of use. Also don't cheap out on hubs. The only ones that ended up working, again, after eight, are the AllMakes hubs Rovers North sells. Literally all others tossed out a Three Amigos and/or crunchy or vibrating steering, usually both.

You'll find a lot more uses for this wrench if you decide to get it. A lot of fasteners on the disco need to be tightened in the range that wrench provides.

I just used my impact gun then I took a 1/2 breaker bar and added a 2 ft pipe to it and torqued it down some more.

@Extinct had this tip: “3/4" drive harbor freight set, here. 200lb man on 18" pipe equals 300 ft lbs. Close enough.“

Extinct’s tip is absolutely correct. Lbs x Ft = FtLbs. If the 200 lb person put his weight at 21” instead of 18 it would be 350 FtLbs as accurately as any torque wrench.

That's an insane amount of torque. You can just do 100 or so and you're good to go. Very fine threads give you superior clamping force. I put them on with an impact, few uggadugga and you're good. Benn doing them for 20 years that way.
