Default I am NEW, with a problem!

I just registered today, hello everyone. I am now a first time Discovery owner, first time Land Rover owner. Not a first time 4x4 owner by far. I just traded my exploder (running fine) for a not so fine 1994 Discovery. They said they drove it home, and the next day they went to start it, it would not fire up. It does turn over though. Is there any problems associated with discoverys i should know about? I heard the Lucas ignition system on the 3.9's were prone to failure. Thank you very much.

Check for spark and fuel.
There is a schrader valve on the fuel rail, crank it over and then press the valve and see if fuel squirts out.
Then remove a spark plug and have a friend crank it over and look for spark.
Let us know what you find.

What is great about the D1 is that it is fairly simple to work on. Spike is right, cehck for fuel and spark first. Use th eprocess of elimination, check the fuel first, then the spark at the plugs. The check the rotor in the distributor cap and then the coil. When it comes to the distributor cap and the rotor if it replaced with the cheap stuff it does not always work.

If none of that works then get back to us.

See, at least you knew enough to pull the driveshaft before putting her on a dolly....

I'm sorry, I get the feeling you found out the hard way? I haven't got a chance to look at her yet. She is in a garage 15 miles away. So tomorrow night it is. I did let it air out though. Leak from the forward sunroof? Seals anyone?

Where are these drain tubes? In the roof? Also should i take out all the upholstry? Or just let the vehicle in a heated shop for a few days? To best dry it out? Also what is good for mildew?

Open the sunroofs, look in the corners for the drain tubes.
If you already have mildew your screwed.
Shop vac any excess water, let it dry with the widows open, park it in the hot sun if you can.
Otherwise inside a hot garage.
