Did you wire you cdl lamp circuit yet? If you've hooked the cdl circuit to the blue/black wire and not the black/blue wire that may be your problem..

If you need a breakdown of the xyz switch I can fax it to you but you'll probably
want to shoot yourself before you try and decipher it and figure out the pin locations..

I have not wired anything for the cdl circuit, as i have not installed the CDL yet.
I did not know there was anything to wire for the cdl, just put the shifter in and let it fly according to ashcroft.

you don't need to wire anything for the CDL. you are correct.

once you get this trunion nut loose you will need someone else to sit in the truck with the key turned to see if it will read the gear correctly as you pull the cable tighter thru the trunion nut. you need two people. but i don't think that is your problem. and to be honest if you were going to go that far i would just take the sensor off which is 3 bolts and that wiring harness and drill out the rivets and clean it up and re-seal it because you will have to adjust the cable again after that procedure.

you can see the mud that came out of mine

ok; seeing as I pissed about people not closing out posts and I emailed everyone who had this problem and did not close out thier post.

Here's is what i found after having my truck at the dealer for a day NOTHING, i then brought it to a well respected LR specilist in the NE, he had it 2-days and found NOTHING. They both told me the same thing, "you have a transmission problem, but it isnt in the transmission."

Tried an xyz switch remained the same, tried a trans. cpu remained the same, checked every fuse and relay in the truck the song remained the same.

So I pulled a used harness out of another 2000, (dont ever do it) LR does not beleive in plugs, it is one harness from the headlights to the beginning of the back seat. Not one plug where sections could taken apart.

Sent the wife to her family for newyears and borrowed a friend's garage and started at the task on replacing the harness and what do i find?

wait for it, below the storage area in the console is a SRS controller below that is a connector with 4 orange wires, one of the wires apprently had a bad connection from day one, it was all black and crusty inside the connector, I made a new plug connected everything back up and the lights went out.

So i guess after 12 years of smamming the console cover down took its toll on the connection and it finally stopped making contact.

So for all you people who have flashing M&S lights and are still in limp mode and it is not battery/alt. related, you might want to pull your console and check the conector under the SRS pack.

I was lucky and got the uncut harness, xyz, all the CPU's (engine, trans, abs, ace) and a passenger seat for $200.00 less than the price of a used xyz switch on eBay.

I will offically now close this post by saying all is well again, not really well i bought my wife a RRC for xmass so that shows you how well I am.
