I have to replace the headgaskets-argh!
Today with it 105 degrees outside, I noticed that coolant was slightly bubbling out of the front of the left head where it meets the block. So, I will be replacing the head gaskets. I searched the archives and did not find the answer to this question.
Here is my parts list, what am I missing?
Headasket set
Headbolts
Valve cover gaskets
Valley pan gaskets
Intake manifold gasket
Exhaust gaskets
Gasket sealer
Thermostat
Coolant
Radiator hoses
Fan Belt

I just did mine here is what I got:
- Head gasket kit from Atlantic British
- Cylinder Head bolts
- Thermostat
- Belt (if needed)
- 2 hoses that needed replacement (rest were fine)
- Tube black APV gasket sealer
- Coolant
- Power steering fluid
- Rave CD or Shop Manual
It's not that bad just take your time and keep track of your bolts.

Good luck! Let us know if you need help. Like I said I just got done with mine so it is fresh in my mind. I was planning on doing a write up but it's a pretty intensive job and I decided to concentrate on doing it right instead of a write-up as the procedure is already in the shop manual with pictures. If you don't have them already here are some tools you will find indispensable (all tools available from Harbor Freight):
- 8mm 12 point socket to get off the rocker cover bolts. 6 point socket will not work
- A full wobble extension set ($15)
- A full metric impact driver set ($35), you will break regular sockets on this job
- 3 piece impact driver extension set ($15)
- A few good breaker bars of different length, one at least 32" to get off the head bolts.
- Long jointed extended ratchet to reach the hard to reach bolts ($20)
- Metric damaged bolt extractor set saved my bacon on a bad head gasket bolt ($20)
This is of course in addition to the normal stuff like a 150 lb torque wrench etc. I apologize if you already knew this, I did not have these and it took a couple trips to get all the tools.
Edit: Just saw you have a DI so not sure if the rocker cover bolts are the same size.

DI's have the same 8mm 12pt bolts on the valve covers...
