Anyone? Why or why not? Maybes dont be afraid to chime in. I use an indie shop. I'm not a mechanic.

Because, Disco! I mean, c’mon!
If I’m completely honest, just have one of each.

I have worked on more than a few LR3s but just LR3s. Neighbor got a D2. Of course after two weeks its dead in the water..... BUT I will tell you, as a off-road vehicle I would take a D2 over a D3 any day. Why? They are so stupid easy to work on. I have not done much to help him yet, but everything is just there and for the most part really easy to get to. Now since you don't do your own work that may not matter, but from the standpoint of being on a trail with an issue I like em better than a LR3. Of course there is the looks too, I think the D1/D2 have such a classic utilitarian look that I love.

Not mechanic either is tough, but a well maintained Lr3 will get the job done fine. The Disco's are just getting old, part can be tough to source.

I love mine but if it died not sure I would go to another Disco, but I am 63 and getting to retirement.

If you are keeping the LR3, then yes by all means buy a DII. If you are thinking about selling the LR3 for a DII, No.

Personally, I like the look of the D2s much more than the later models. That said, I’ve never driven or ridden in a 3 or 4 so I can’t compare without sone bias. If you’re into upgrades, I think there is more aftermarket stuff available for the D1/2s. I guess you need to ask yourself what you’re looking for. If your D3 is a keeper, keep it. Like someone suggested, consider buying a D2 as well - they can be had very reasonable.

I have both a LR3 and D2.

Keep your LR3 and get a D2.

If you like the size of the LR3, smooth ride and the quiet interior you are not going to like the D2 much after you get over the styling. I love the way the D2 looks inside and out but I'm 6'3" and the D2 is cramped compared to the LR3. However the D2 is great on the trails being smaller and with the solid axels and coils.

I'm with keninnc on this one, I have a D2 and regularly drive a LR3 and LR4. D2s are super easy to work on and can be a lot of fun, but not nearly as smooth or practical as a D2. Also if you're lazy like me and don't bring a tent camping you can easily sleep inside the car if your under 6ft.
