here is a skidplate i made for my disco yesterday at work out of stainless steel... it wont work as good as the stock one but i dont go offroad much and if i do its easy to put the old one back on... i think i am gonna polish it up later today... http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/q.../Image0002.jpg .. http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/q.../Image0003.jpg ... i could probably make more now that i have it programmed into the cnc table here at work, i would just have to clear it with my boss and order some more stainless, i just used a piece of scrap we had layin around... my brother is gonna try to get me some diamond plate...

What did you do for mounting brackets? Any pictures of how its mounted to your disco?

 

mine came with a stock skidplate, so i used it for measurements and stuff... it mounts with eight bolts to a support bracket behind it, i will try to get some pictures later today or something when i pull it off to polish it...

How much are you selling them for?

 

Very smartlike it !!!.............But.........in my experience with my2 Disco's, if you have holes / writing etc cut into the plate, it just scoops / collects mud up behind it and is a pain to get out when you wash the car and theres always some you miss and it drops of in big lumps on your drive a week later.

A solid plate just skids over it and is much better imo. My D2 is solid and my D1 has holes in it and it collects loads of crap up there.........If you mainly go rocky / dusty tracks as opposed to thick mud, then it would be ok..........................Just my thoughts

 

yeah i can make solid ones too... the one i made is more just for looks... we werent busy at work and we have a big cnc table and plate benders and all kinds of stuff... i will talk to my boss and see if he can order me like a 4x8 of like 3/8 stainless and let me come in on a saturday and make a couple... once i find out about the price of the plate and stuff i could let you know how much it would cost...

I am more interested of the solid one, you should also make a skid plate for the gas tank.
I think that you could make some money at this.

i think i have a stock gas tank skid plate too... i will check at lunch... if someone had left the stock brushgaurd on my XD like it was supposed to have i could make those too... i just need one for reference and measurements... i can look and see if fabin up the mounting brackets would bee too diffucult for the skidplates, mine already had them but i assume if your disco didnt come with a skid then the mounting brackets wont be there either...

nope no gas tank skid... just checked... i'll get under there one day and pull some measurements and try to make one though...because that thing is super exposed to damage...
