Default I need a temporary rear O2 fix.

So, I had a cylinder 4 and 6 misfire on the way home from the mechanic a couple nights ago. Mechanic man accidentally flip flopped the cables on the coils. Now, I didnt know at the time that this was the case, so I ordered a set of coils and proceeded to try to drive her home (5 min drive). It had already been run about half an hour like that to break in my new cam and lifters. Suddenly in the rear view I see glowing pieces of metal on the road. Throw on the hazards, pull over, inspect. The unburned gas got into my right side catalytic converter and melted it. I had to chop it out sitting beside the road. I threw some pipe in last night and it needs to stay that way until I can afford a new cat, but I need a way to fool my rear O2 sensor into thinking it's working. I've got a couple spark plug fowler in there, but that didn't work last time I tried it. Any ideas? Could I put a piece of the converter core in the end of the fowler or something?

Thanks!

lets see if i get this right, you replaced the cam and lifters and ran the motor to breaking the new cam and lifters. but you had the motor running in the wrong firing order during the break in

Wouldn't the mechanic be responsible for the price of any damage due to plugging the wires up wrong. And not spotting it?

Unless he was just a buddy 'helping' you out.

If there was a temp fix, everyone would be doing it instead of replacing their bad cat converters. So I dont think you have a choice on this one

I personally think he is, but my dad gave me a funny look when I said I wanted the mechanic to pay for repairs. I'm going to talk to him again tonight.

i would also worry about breaking in the cam with the wrong firing order.
you had rockers and push-rods supplying pressure to the new lifter, putting pressure on new soft cam lobes, there is a possibly their could have damaged the new cam or one of the new lifters.
it not the first time a engine was started up with the wrong firing order 180 off happen all the time with new cams; but they don't leave it running like that for the whole cam break in period.
