Cool Ideas on cleaning up the door panels? Where the elbow rests..

I've been cleaning this truck up and I always frown at the door panel where it's not plastic, its just a stained fabric.

Can that part of the door panel be replaced or painted?? What can I do??
I would like to somehow paint if black to contrast the interior..

Ideas please..

I was thinking about covering mine in a black suede or felt or something. Thin leather sheet would be good, but I don't think it would be possible to mould it into folds of the door without looking gash.

I assumed the door card had to come off and it will be fixed from the back. That's a guess though.

Edit. Actually looking at your photo, try just taking the handle screws out. It might then slide up and off, if it slots behind where the window meets the door.

I used spray on upholstery/carpet cleaner and a stiff nylon brush.

It is not perfect yet but it actually did help quite a bit.

The material is Alcantara and its molded into the door card so it can not be replaced. Its easy to clean, some warm water with some Woolite diluted, dont soak it. If its all matted up you can use 1000 grit sand paper gently rubbing in a circular motion and a good stiff suede brush to make it look new again.

Use a steamer to clean it out. You can find some used and cheap portable ones on Craiglist. Steam will get the stubborn stuff loose. You can use a rag to wipe it off.

I am thinking about re-covering mine with perforated leather to match the seats.
