Idle Control Valve - Where to buy?
Anyone have any experiences with purchasing a replacement Idle Control Valve? I have found them on-line, but was curious if anyone has got them for less than $150.00, for a 2003 Disco II?
As far as I can tell, the valve appears to be sealed, and cannot be torn down for further testing.
I also hear that you have to have them "programmed", I would assume they would come programmed?

The valve is used on a lot of BMW's from the same time period too.
The manual doesn't say anything about being programmed:
Remove
1. Disconnect multiplug from IACV.
2. Loosen 2 clips securing air hoses and release hoses.
3. Remove 2 screws securing IACV to inlet manifold.
4. Collect clamps and remove IACV.
Refit
1. Position IACV to inlet manifold, locate clamps, fit screws and tighten to 8 Nm (6 lbf.ft).
2. Position air hoses to IACV and secure clips.
3. Connect multiplug to IACV.

Exactly what problem are you having, what fault code numbers are you getting? I have a friend with 2 good guaranteed used ones for less. if interested, give me a shout. Forgot to mention, $65 including shipping.
No the new IACV does not need to be programmed, the ECU may need to be re-programmed.
If your old IACV is dead and out of whack the new one will be told to use the old ones values and it will screw with your idle, BUT it will relearn over time.
Just make sure you unplug the old one with the key off and plug the new one in before you turn the key on.

I too am continuing to experience issues at cold idle... The IACV sat around awhile while I was doing the head gaskets. Ever since, has not been the same. Tried cleaning it out, lubed it and still no change and no codes.
I just got off the phone with Mike. I'm the person who has the IACV's for sale for $65 including shipping. If anyone is interested please feel free to contact me. I've parted three DII's in the last month and have tons of parts available.

Paul

With that being said, I suppose I'll try and fix my issue with buying one of these units assuming it's in good working order. PM me and we'll work out a deal through PayPal.
