I will be replacing the the original Ignition Coil Pack, Spark Plugs and Wires in My O2 Disco II due to intermittent unnoticeable misfires that occur only when i back up after starting the motor. I plan to use a brand called Import Direct, for the Wires & Coil Pack with Bosch Spark Plugs.

The question I have, are there any quirks with this? I know this Disco 2 did not like a certain O2 Sensor which resulted in double the work.

Just stick with the bosch coil packs.

 

STI-721 for wires.

 

I think Your right. The Bosch are comparably priced, was going to go with the Import just because I could get it today. Going with Bosch. I'm going to attempt to do this without removing the Intake. I saw in a couple of threads that its tight but its been done.

Now I know why we were taught to play twister, and operation as kids - Primarily to work on these Disco's!

@Salgriffin If you have secondary air (SAI) you need to pull the intake. Pulling the aluminum tubes for the SAI makes things easier too

 

That is a very good point. I checked that out, and thank god I don't have the ACE or the SAI system.

It can be done but it is tight and if the truck is lifted it is much harder to reach.

 

It is lifted, but I have learned a few tricks to mitigate this. I've pretty decent culvert that drops the front down low when the fronts are in the ditch. I can also lower even more by letting most of the air out of the front tires. I've also considered just digging two holes for the front tires at the end of the drive way.

 

a small step ladder with all the air out should work well. I found some foam to put on top of grill/rad or towels work and then I'm able to not worry about the step stool kicking out on me and can really get back there. The only way to really attack it is straight on from the front, I'm 6' so not a small guy and it's just super awkward no matter how you go after it.
