Ignition Key ???

Ignition Key ???
Must I use the factory key that has the alarm remote in my 2000 Disco II ?? I'd like to cut an inexpensive key and keep it in my wallet for emergencies.
But, if it will only get me in the door, and not start the truck, what good is that ??
Basically, I have 2 goals ...
1- A spare key in my wallet. And
2- Not need to spend $200.00 for a key.
Anyone know for sure ??

I ordered a key blank off of ebay for $15. The hardware store had a bit of trouble cutting it, and we went back and forth a couple times, but it worked out. As mwindth said, it works as you'd expect, even better. Unlock and it unlocks all the doors, lock and it locks all the doors and sets the alarm. And of course it starts the truck just fine. That's what I use (my wife who normally drives it has the remote/key and I couldn't see the expense being worth it for the few times I drive it and the convenience of not taking her key).
