I was dead in the middle (the video is just edited), it was much deeper coming in, in the video you see where I get on high ground them I'm able to make it out the same way the jeeps tried to come in. That swamp buggy was really digging in going in the same way I did. I don;t think the jeeps would have stood a chance.

Front end looks the same as the one on my truck. Not too sure I trust it before I saw your video, now I am going to reinforce it for sure! Glad you got it home! things happen fast off road sometimes!!

Those grill guards (that's all they are) were never intended to be used as recovery points. Before I had a set of cluster hooks I'd refuse to recover people who only had a grill guard. For the reason shown in the video.

I wouldn't bother spending the effort trying to reinforce the grill guard in hopes you can use it for recovery. You'd be better off with a couple of jate rings and a recovery bridle.

That is my plan. I like the looks of it, but it seems a bit wobbly.

The brush guard bolts directly to the frame and has two eye lets to put shackles through directly in front of the frame connection points. Which ARE recovery points, unfortunately my shackles were to damn big to fit through the holes because the base of the brush guard was in the was. So I strapped around the guard itself, I didn't have high hopes for it holding, but once it was snapped off, I was then able to get my shackle in the eye let on the piece of the brush guard still connected to the frame. That's ultimately the connection spot that got me out! If you have a brush guard and need to use the recovery points on it, make sure you have shackles that fit!!

Here's a picture of the recover points on the bottom of the brush guard:

Good to know! I have shackles to fit those holes, but when I used them to tow the truck home when I was having fuel pump issues, the brush guard would move back almost against the hood. seems to be moving on the bolts to the frame even after I tightened the crap out of them with a long bar. It still moves a bit...

Thanks for the picture!! Maybe I might add some gussets to strengthen that point a bit.

I know exactly what you mean. When I added a LED bar to the brush guard I added a horizontal support bar from the light mount point to the inside of the grill. That was the only thing that helped stabilize it from shaking (and was my wire run) no matter how hard I tightened down the Frame Bolts. But regardless, if you have a brush guard and need to use it as a recovery point, those bolts holding it on going through the frame, leading to the eye lets are super strong. Obviously, the welds holding the brush guard to the connection points are weak and the guard itself should not be used as a pull/recovery option unless you want to snap it off like a match stick like mine did!

Yup. it is just too darn convenient to wrap a strap around that center bar, especially if it is sitting deep in the mud or water. I thought about putting the recovery strap in lace before I went off road, but I figured that would be asking for bad karma...
