Ok, it was scanned with two scanners.

The first was a MaxiScan, and showed the code P0308. It apparently looked like there were a total of three codes, but it only showed one, so he tried another scanner.

The second scan was on an EVO scanner, and only showed the P0308 code.

The guy scanning it thinks that's the only code, since it's the only one that showed on two scanners.

hmmm...make sure plug and wires are in good shape. Wonder if you're getting spark on that plug/wire? Injector fouled? But that would probably lead to lean codes and a clean plug.

There are some service places that have BG products/services. Perhaps a 44K treatment is in order?

This is a shot in the dark, but did you recently drive the truck through any heavy rain or deep submersible puddles? I took my truck through a DEEP creek bed (water level just below the doors) and got misfire codes, truck running rough symptoms. Gave it a day to dry out and she was back to normal. Something got wet (maf, O2 sensors, cats, something) the truck just wasnt happy.

Time to utilize your AAA premier membership and its lovely 200 mile tow.

But seriously...as stated already...find a good indy mech.

ps. 308 is a cylinder 8 misfire which makes sense with the issues you've been suffering.

I'd try a battery restart. Just saying. It is a simple solution that sometimes works wonders.

what?

check cyl 8 for spark. then check for shorts with a water bottle. you might just need new plugs and wires. did you lose any coolant? is the oil milky?

Resetting the ECU by unplugging the battery for 2 or so minutes. It'll clear all codes, and if it said it was throwing 3 but only showing 1, this might help there as well. But that is just the first thing I would do. From there I would do the plug and wire.

Obviously you don't know anything about rovers... don't ever
Tell anyone on this forum to try to reset any codes by disconnecting their battery again. If you choose to go that route with your own stuff whatever but don't offer it here as good advice.
