Improve turning radius
Hey guys,
I remember reading a post about the turning stops on the DII's and how you might improve your turning radius by removing them....I may be wrong..
Anyway... my question is if anything would get damaged if those stops are removed completely or if i can just grind them down to a safe length since I have 16 inch rims. I haven't been under my Disco in 2 weeks and I'm going crazy thinking about what it might affect...
THANKS

I'm not positive about the turning stops, but this is one way to do it. Expensive, but maybe if you're handy with some metal you could make your own. Something I've considered doing for my DI as well...

If you remove your turning stops, you will rub/wear the inside sidewall on your radius and you could bind up your wheel cause steering damage. Suggest you stay with narrow wheels and tires as the only way to cut the radius.
AHAHAHA! isnt it fun getting used to the (forward, back up, forward, back up). there really no way to significantly improve radius, without ruining your trucks steering system.
I run 265/70r16 General Grabber AT2 on Land Rover Range Rover 16X8.5 inch rims and I have a better turning radius than my wife's PT cruiser. In fact, on a normal big 2 way street, I can do a u-turn no problem. Guess those wheels really are responsible for that.

Disco's are pretty short by SUV standards... try a 3-pointer in a Suburban or Expedition

my daily driver is a Ford F250 Super Duty with a extended cab and long bed. i drive that sucker in and out of seattle everyday to see customers and clients. that is a truck that is ZERO fun to 3 point in a hurry in seattle. the rover is a blessing in comparission.
