The dealer quoted me $45 for both. I think my bench grinder will do the job and I'll bring it down to 23mm or 24mm and add washers like you said in case I get it too short.

I was gonna suggest just that. Grind or cut them to the lenght you want.

Well it worked. My steering stops measured 29mm and I grind them down to 23mm .... I can do a three point turn around!!

It's also no Ford Explorer, which I could do a full 180* turn in front of my parents house. Not in the D2 however.
But then again, unlike the ford Exploder, important engine components aren't made of plastic to save money.
