The quality control difference between all of those places and China are huge. I'm not sure it's fair to say, "what's the difference" between a part made in Germany and a part made in China.

Same part? Or same part number? There's likely a significant difference.

Not completely.
From their warranty:
To obtain performance of this warranty, you should contact us and return the product as we instruct at your expense.

Also, warranty is only for one replacement, so if they turn out to be total crap build quality and fail in 10,000 miles they'll give you one more, then you're on your own.

On the other hand, they are only $100.

From the customer service policies at the bottom of the listing:

If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you can return your order to the warehouse for a full refund. We believe that in order to have the best possible online shopping experience, our customers should not have to pay for domestic return shipping. So if for whatever reason you're not happy with your purchase, just call us at 1-866-828-4322 and one of our representatives will issue a free return label - your domestic shipping costs are prepaid. With our return policy, there are no special catches or exceptions. All we ask is that you send the items back to us in the original packaging, and make sure that the merchandise is in the same condition.

33 of them have been sold. Maybe someone on LRF bought one and will chime in.

That's only if you get it, look at it, and don't like it. You have to read the warranty for how it changes once installed.

Some things you can't tell quality just by looking a them. Others might look fine, but perform poorly in service.

I'm sure they count on people not reading the fine print in the warranty, or even the last sentence in the quote, which obviously rules out in service failure.

I haven't been on the LRRF in several months because it's hosting malicious scripts.

I just purchased an aftermarket one from your employer which is most likely sourced from somewhere other than Germany.
