Infamous knocking..

As stated above, you could probably drive it forever, if it does not drive you nuts. Mine got worse over time, all the mods helped to some degree. The inline thermostat is invaluable and everyone should do it. I spent years tracking it down, ultimately it was the sleeves, which for the longest time I believed was an urban legend.
I ultimately had a guy pin the cylinders, I got lucky that he was close enough to me, Did good work, fair price, I would go back if I needed to.
Where are you located?

I really don't mind the noise just want to know if I need to worry about it is it's just it's age showing I will be more than happy to save a few thousands
I'm from Canada, it was hard enough finding a Discovery in "good" shape, let alone finding a knowledgeable and fairly priced rover mechanic...

@Ben88 my ‘04 did exactly what you describe and sounded just like the video. Ticked when hot, could only really hear it from drivers seat and under the truck. Could barely hear it from the engine bay.
I ran 20/50 oil, the inline mod, and PCV mod, and that all helped incrementally. I’m sure it was the sleeves that was causing the noise based on how common that seems to be on 03 and 04 trucks. Oil pressure was spot on.
Hopefully that is helpful. I sold mine, but the current owner texts me occasionally and it’s still running great for them.

Ben88- This sounds exactly like my '04 did, and you description is right on par with my experience. I think you are looking at the wrong thing. Your sound is that of valve ticking and a slipped sleeve. My D2 blew a head gasket at 174,000. When I pulled the heads off, I found my valves were filthy, the oil galleys clogged and the sleeve of #4 cylinder had slipped UP, meaning the sleeve was actually above the surface of the block by just under 1mm. I was able to push the sleeve back down to almost flush with the block ( .004mm above). I did a write up on the process, so check my postings. If you have any questions PM me.

Get those coolant temps down under 200
it’s amazing how much the different metals expand and contract.
recently tried to remove my alternator bolts
good luck when the engine was hot and those metal bolts expanded. I didn’t think of it at the time I thought I had bad threads or something I thought I was going to snap them
next day I had to put back in my old alternator the engine was cold sat overnight
I can almost thread the bolts out by hand no force needed. It’s amazing
