Default Inline T-stat Temps

For those running inline t-stats, what temps are you seeing on the hotter days, AC on or off? How much temp fluctuation? Trying to confirm if the fluctuation I'm seeing is normal. I may have an issue with the t-stat coming into contact with the hood and restricting flow as my temps steadily climb once hood is shut and off driving. Temp does not spike or make huge jumps, just steadily increases slowly. Contact with the hood is the only thing I can think of that would be causing this.

TIA

Get a motorad thermo for the inline mod. Always good. I went thru 2 others that fluctuated alot. Junk. Motorad fixed it. Also don't trust your parts guy. Pull it from the box and verify it has a 180 stamp. Guy gave me a 190. I took it back and he gave me another 190.

i have our member extinct kit
33 degrees Celsius i rum 182-188 city driving and going 2000 rpm on highway
if I’m pushing it on the hwy like 2500-2800 rpm it will hit 195 briefly
idle is a steady 182-188
ac on or off doesn’t make much difference

Thanks redwhite, that's the kit I'm running as well. Mine at first will hang out in the 180s and then once driving it will slowly start climbing, it got up to 212 right as I reached my destination. Today it got up to 204, so not exactly sure what my issue is. Followed the provided instructions, will need to spend more time and see if it's indeed due to any contact with the hood liner.

Last couple days have been in the mid to low 90s with 70% humidity. If driving with a/c off the temp hovers between 185-190. If running a/c in stop and go, it will climb into upper 190-205. If left idling w/ a/c on 220.

My guess is my rad may be a bit plugged or something or the t-stat is junk. I also run the Hayden clutch and fan system

So idling is your issue
I would suspect your fan is not moving enough air when your idling.
I would for piece of mind get a new rad and fan clutch idler pullies and tensioner for piece of mind and check for any play on the water pump
all good maintenance items and relatively cheap parts

Yeah, I think you may have a radiator issue. I just did a 700 mile round trip in 100 degree weather, 195-200 driving 75mph with the AC on full blast for hours at a time. Does not creep up unless idling in 100 degree weather, but I do not have the Hayden clutch or anything. The thermostats in the kits are motorads, lifetime warranty so if there an issue I am happy to replace it. Good idea to pull it out completely and run without one, see if it makes a difference.

Idling is not my issue, flushed rad when I put this kit in. Did not have any kind of debris when flushing and it flowed just fine. Let me spend a little more time to see if it's an issue with the hood liner contacting the housing and restricting flow to the short portion of the hose. The way it steadily creeps up and never makes any huge jumps (and holds steady when hood is open and coming up to temp). I didn't have time when I got home from errands today to see if temps dropped if I opened the hood.

Wonder what is different from your disco to mine for the hood to be touching your thermostat??
