Default Inline Thermostat Install Help

So I installed the inline thermostat with a new radiator. Started it up and filled up the coolant overflow while it was running. Kept filling it up as it sucked the coolant into the new radiator. Finally reached full and air started bubbling out. I went into the cab and turned on the heat full blast. No heat and the temps kept climbing all the way up to 221 before I shut it off.

Any idea what I did wrong?

You still have air in the system. Raise the overflow bottle as high as you can get it and buzz the engine to 2500 rpm’s a few times.

Let it cool, top off coolant, restart, and see if you can get the air bubble out.

Never had that much trouble with it before, not many others have either (over 100 shipped so far), not sure why you would have had so much air.

Possibly because I swapped out hoses and radiator? Also I didn’t raise the coolant reservoir until later after someone pointed it out to me. All good now. Nice mod!

I routinely am putting in completely rebuilt engines, all new hoses and all new radiator, never had to do more than just the 45 second rev. Oh well, glad you got it sorted.
