Never needed one, you could go do the Windsor casino's and strip clubs with just your drivers license.
Here in MI going to Canada was a everyday thing, many people even worked there.
Next time I renew my drivers license I am going to get the "passport" license, it will allow you to go to Mexico and Canada, the Bahamas', Caribbean, cruises etc.
Cheaper than a "real" passport and easier to get too.
i just applied for my passport book last week.... woohoo canada!!! whenever i am up there if its not far from your area of the states i will let you know... sadly i will be flying up so i wont have either of my rovers with me... i guess i could always just buy another one

This should fit all DII's and maybe even DI if the thread on the oil pressure switch is the same as the DII's.

If any of you are interested in the hardware, please email me.

Nice job! That's a handy piece of equipment, regardless of what year truck you're driving.

How do you like the ScanGauge?

Thanks Disco_Fever,

I think the scangauge is great. I like where it's mounted too. I work on friend's cars from time to time and wanted a universal OBDII scanner that can give me other options like actual water temp. I bought the extra cable and have one permanently routed in my Disco and then the other one in the center console along with my ABS-Amigo device and I'm good to go!

Highly recommended...

I always knew the water temp went up during off road use and now I can see it real time.

Not to rain on your parade but the drivers license one will not work for the cruises and stuff soon, they are tightening the restrictions for it. It will still be allowed for Canada and Mexico at the boder but it has something to do with going in and out of different country territories on the cruises. I am not sure on the reson but that is what was told me on my last cruise just a couple of weeks ago.

Besides get the full passport, you never know when you need to run off to Germany or Italy on a whim, or to evade capture.

Jysalas I was reading the scangauge website because I am very interested in getting one. I read that you could access an oil pressure gauge function by programming the unit to do so. Did you not use this function because it was not available with the Land Rover operating system?

I saw that after I got it and haven't tried it. But here is why I don't think it will work:

The oil pressure warning light switch registers low oil pressure in the main oil gallery on the outflow side of the filter. Whilst the engine is running and oil pressure is correct, the switch is open. When the ignition is switched on or if oil pressure drops below the pressure setting of the switch, the switch closes and the low oil pressure warning lamp located in the instrument pack will illuminate.

Unlike the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor which is fitted in the inlet manifold adjacent to the manifold outlet pipe. The sensor monitors coolant temperature emerging from the engine and sends signals to the ECM for engine management and temperature gauge operation.

If the oil pressure switch was an "oil pressure sensor" it might work on the Scangauge.

Scangauge can only read sensors...not switches.

So on our rigs it most likely won't read:

Oil pressure (switch)
Tcase oil temp (switch) In the event of the transfer box oil approaching maximum recommended working temperature of 145C (293F), the switch will close and a warning lamp in the instrument pack will be illuminated.

It might/should be able to read:
Transmission temp (sensor)
Mass air flow/ inlet air temperature (sensor)
Engine coolant temperature (sensor)
And some other ones i think...

I called them up and they stated that so far the oil pressure gauge function only works on corvette, grand prix and chevy colorado that he knows of and even now its only at the experimental stages of reading PSI. He stated pretty much what you said the "sensor" is in fact just a switch to a dummy light on our dashes, so the ecm would not be reading a pressure reading because there is no real spectrum or range of pressures that it reads, its on or off. An oil pressure gauge like yours looks alot cooler anyways!
