Installing Dog Cage in 04 Disco.
Hello everyone.
I recently purchased an 04 Disco and have the land rover cage for dogs from aprevious Discovery my family owned.
I just bought the fixings kit but it has no instructions. The dealership said they could do it for about $150. I know that you have to drill for the upper part, how hard of a job is this? Should I tackle it myself or have the dealership do it and have it done right? The drilling concerns me.
any input would be great Thanks...

Download the RAVE cd (http://lrrforums.com/showthread.php?t=7569) and you will have the instructions for all the accessories, workshop manual, and owner's handbook. I'd post the pics of the install but it's 11 pages long.

Urban,
Have you done this before? If so how hard is it? Is it worth paying the 150 to the dealer to make sure it isright?
It looks like there is a template which lines up where you are supposed to drill. Is there a receiving end behind the lining that the template matches you up with?
Thanks!

Hi,
No I have not done it, But have one in mine, and it would be simple to do, The instructions take note of vehicles with out 7 seats because they have no rear handles, If you have seven seats its even easier and you dont need the template as it lines up with the handle fixings at the top. So you do that first, fit the dog guard brackets to the dog guard, clip it in the top fixings, Hold it square / vertical and then using masking tape just mark where the bottom fixings go.
You then simply remove the rear Audio panels (if you have them) drill through and fit the lower brackets, backing plates and nuts, then refit panels and clip the dog guard in place. I would think it could be done in an hour or less.

Thanks for the info Urban.... How easy is it to remove/put in for convenience, not initial install or removal... but if you were to want to take it out for a day/week/whatever..
Also, what would be the best way to print these instructions, I have tried but cannot seem to do it.
I like your disco by the way, looks good.

To remove / install takes about 2mins if that, simply undo the bottom hand screw / *****, and then unlicp top and take it out.
Best bet to print instructions I posted is to right click each image and save each image to your pc and print them from there.
