Default Installing a SD roof rack, need help

I am sure that some of you saw the thread where I bought a Sd roof rack for a Disco 1. Is the only difference between the 2 racks the length? I want to fully mount this rack because I don't think that I will find anyone to trade with. The problem that I am having is where the allen screws attach from the bottom. It seems like the rain gutter is in the way. In order to fully mount them do I have to drill out part of the rain gutters? If anyone has installed a safety device rack please let me know.

The mounts should rest on the gutter and then you clamp a bracket from the outside, over the gutter.

That is currently how I have it okdiscoguy. With the safety device racks they also have an allen screw that goes through the bottom of the mount and attaches to the rack. It looks like part of the gutter rail is in the way. Has anyone ran across this problem before?

No, you don't have to drill anything. Just pull the foot to the outer edge of the rain gutter.

when i remounted mine it helped to get all 4 mounts on one side first. then when on the other side have a buddy pull on the rack while to get the bottom allen screw in. Yours has 2 screws per mount right? One comes from the bottom and one goes towards the truck.

Right now I have the rack off in the garage to touch up a few things before I put it back on. Maybe tomorrow when I am finished painting and I have the rack back up I will take some pics to help explain myself. Anyone with an SD rack should know the bottom allen screw that I am talking about.

Yep there are 2 bolts on every mount. One that comes from the bottom and one that comes in facing the truck.

Mine has 2 bolts for every mount and also 1 allen screw. So there is a total of 3 per mount.

OK - I am an idiot... I just went outside and looked and mine has 3 bolts as well on each mount. 2 of them are 13mm and one is the allen from the bottom.

I took 2 pictures so you can see how mine are mounted. Also, I think that the rack is wider in the back then in the front so you might have a hard time mounting it if you have it sitting too far back on the truck. In the second picture below you can see how close to the front of the truck mine is mounted.

Also, I remember that I got all 3 of the bolts started, then I tighten the allen first and the 13mm bolts second.

Hope this helps-

I wonder if the PO may have bent the tabs a little. I didn't want to use the drill to make the allen screws work. Thank you rj95lss for the pics. I will have to do some measurements and see if I can get it to work.
