Default Instrument Cluster Dead

I started my disco this morning (been about a week since I last drove it) and noticed the dash lights were all out. Odometer is blank, tach and speedo show no sign of life. Turn signals light up and the cluster illuminates when I turn on the headlights. Only light that illuminates when key is in aux is the SRS light for a few seconds. It has been pretty cold the last few days here in Nebraska, ~ -15F overnight. Any thoughts?

Throttle Body Heater connected????Just kidding.... I’d check all the electrical connections to the cluster, make sure all the fuses are good under the dash, and possibly check the battery connections and under the hood fuse box.

...yes, for now (of course it leaks). So when I drove home last night it was a steamy 6F and the cluster came back to life. My guess it's a temp related thing. It was dead again this morning when I started the disco but after about 10 seconds the thing came to life. Will continue to monitor it but I think it's land rover's way to let you know it's cold out.

Solder will contract in the cold (like any other metal).
That can cause connection problems on a circuit board.

Default Same

This is funny, came here to pod the exact same thing.
Got in it last night at -36°c. The cluster worked fine for a while and then I noticed the windshield heater and rear defrost lights were off. I hit defrost and they came on again for a second and then shut down again. Thought it was a fuse and then noticed the cluster was out. Nothing lighting up at all but everything working (except defrost and windshield). Then it just came on again in 3 or four minutes (with most of the dummy lights flashing on). Apparently she just doesn’t like the cold.

This happens to tons of D2s in the cold weather. It'll come back on eventually

D1’s were really bad about it! It sure sounds like a cold solder joint. I’d carefully re solder all the incoming terminals and see if that fixes it. You can also re-solder/reseat where the individual gauges go. I had one funky acting gauge and it just needed to be removed/cleaned/reinstalled.
