Default intake manifold removal - coil pack bolts

Ok so I have all the secondary bits out of the way, locate the 6 bolt that hold it on.

Rave indicates 2 bolts behind the intake manifold to remove and 2 to be loosened - how do you even see those let alone access them?

I use a 1/4 ratchet, and a 1/4 extension with a 1/4 5/16 or 8MM deep socket to remove the four bolts that secure the coil pack bracket. A little bit of putty up inside the socket will usually prevent the bolt from falling into the abyss.

No problem at all. A flashlight aimed down into that area helps out a lot as well.

Removing that coil pack is the worst. I ended up replacing the bolts with studs so they land home easier when fussing with it out of sight, and then fasten with nuts. I got the studs and nuts from Napa.

@Friday Night Disco I cheated I removed the bolts that hold the SAI bracket to the Intake Plenum and gently moved the driver's side away from the the studs. I have not moved the passenger side as yet - and I may not have too. I will get a pic for you.

I've read that some Disco 2 owners secured the SAI piping with larger wire ties/cables onto the top of the coil pack instead of bolts. I don't know how long that would last with heat and vibrations though.

I laid a piece of plywood over the engine to lay on while working on my coil packs. Made it easier to reach the back.

Looked great with my feet hanging out the hood. ha ha!!
