Alright got the stock box n new filter in... big differences over the slap on oversized cone filter. I did relize I'm missing the MAF oring but this will work for now.

Firstly, I felt no real difference in the throttle response... seems the same as usual. I don't think these put enough power to the wheels quick enough through this massive 4x4 system to feel feather changes anyway lol!

Noise came down quite a bit. I would never describe hearing the cone filter intake, however there was a noticable overall drop in db's... now its fan clutch and exhuast only really. Slight whistle on acceleration with windows down, think its probably from the missing MAF oring.

Temps is what came down big, as expected.

Around town driving the intake temps hovered low 94 to about 98.

Idle cruising the slower roads it would peak around 104 then drop to 98 once you get on the gas again.

Traffic lights and moderate city type sat around 106-112, saw a peak of 115 where I got stuck in a few intersections waiting for the NY aholes to worm thier way on the arteries going to the beaches. Give me about 2 weeks and Ill see what this does to the gas miliage.

So, if you have a cone filter, ditch it.

Anyone have a snorkle kit that can throw up some of their own numbers? Temps outside today are 74 F forcast but the thermo was reading aboout 78 drivin around... so its even warmed then my first batch of numbers and still that much better.

I missed where you said that you were running a cone filter.

I'm not surprised at all that your temps dropped; in fact, these trucks get so hot under the hood I'm surprised your temps weren't higher than what you were seeing.

It would be really interesting to see snorkel temps.

I didn't know what RAI meant. I also don't quite understand what you are saying.

You're saying when the ambient temp is upper 80s you are seeing intake temps also in the upper 80s? So basically the intake air is at the ambient temp?

Not exactly. They are still higher than ambient temps. But if you compare my results to the results in the first post, my air intake temperatures were lower than those in the ambient temperature was about 88 (higher than those posted)

Yesterday it was 94° and my temperatures on the air intake were staying around 100-115 while driving. Mine are always the highest while setting at Idle and the closest to ambient temperature while accelerating
