Default Interface on DII w/ Alpine - Cable Question

As far as I can tell, my Disco was not pre-wired for the CD Changer.

My question:

Is the data cable just an extension cable, so to speak? That is to say, is the connector on the back of the head-unit where the cable plugs in the same as the connector on the end of the data cable, under the seat (10-pin)? Are they both female?

I don't mind mounting an interface box in the glove box or somewhere closer if it means I have to forego an extension to move it underneath the seat -- an issue addressed by the size of the CD changer and thus the longer cable.

Here's a (disgustingly) crude drawing to illustrate my question:

The femlae inputs are supposed to be the same.

Thanks.

Not sure, best bet is to ping out the wires individually to make sure none are reversed with the cable...

The thing is, I don't actually have the cable. I could pull out the HU, but I don't know what the end of the data cable looks like.

Thanks.
