Interior light blinks seven times...

Interior light blinks seven times...
upon entering the vehicle and the goes out altogether. I read the manual 5 times and can't find anything about it... I assume it has something to do with the security system, but it starts and drives fine. No checkengine light, no service engine soon light... I could try disconnecting the battery for 20 min. to re-set the entire system.
Any thoughts?

RE: Interior light blinks seven times...
Thanks 98Roverguy... I was hoping you were right. I disconnected the battery and left the leads off for 20 minutes... Unfortunately, the interior lights still blink 7 times as if to say #$%& *!# everytime I get into the truck...
My mechanic didn't have a clue either. Anymore thoughts out there are more than welcome.

RE: Interior light blinks seven times...
Ed, I appreciate the suggestion but I'm a "cause and effect" relationship guy... Even if it works, can you tell me a) what caused the lights to start blinking 7 times upon entering in the first place and b) why doing as you suggested fixed it...?
Thanks,
Thanks,

It has something to do with your inertial switch. Under Locks and Alarm ; door locking cut off switch.
Was your inert
Door locking cut-off switch
An inertia switch, operational only with the
starter switch in position ’II’, prevents the
doors from centrally locking (or if the doors
are locked, will unlock them) in the event of an
accident or sudden impact.
When the inertia switch operates, the central
door locking is inhibited and hazards flash for
a minimum of 30 seconds or until the system
is reset by turning the starter switch on and
off, twice.
This is out of a workshop manual.

RE: Interior light blinks seven times...
Found this, might be a start....It is to test the alarm. Good tip on the inertia switch too...
BUILT IN TEST PROCEDURE
The built in test procedure is accessed as follows:
1. Starting conditions: ignition off, doors unlocked,
bonnet [hood] switch depressed.
2. Carry out instructions 3 to 7 within 8 seconds.
3. Release bonnet [hood] switch.
4. Switch ignition ON.
5. Lock doors.
6. Switch ignition OFF.
7. Switch ignition ON.
If alarm is correctly accessed, horn will sound and
LED will flash. The following checks can be made:
8. Open and close any door or tailgate - LED will
light.
9. Depress bonnet [hood] switch - hazards will
flash.
10. Check engine cranking is disabled. Do not turn
off ignition.
11. Check ultrasonic by operating handset, LED will
emit one 5 second flash, and will flash if interior
is disturbed.
NOTE: If ECU is new born mode any
handset of the right frequency will work. If
not an initialised handset is required see
Handset Initialisation.
12. Turn OFF ignition or press handset to end test
procedure. Horn will sound as before to indicate
end of test mode.

RE: Interior light blinks seven times...
okdiscoguy and Evn137, Thanks for the suggestions and procedures... I tried both and neither one solved the blinking light problem. The alarm itself sets properly and turns off when the doors are unlocked with the key fob. The process that okdiscoguy laid out is where the problem lies, because I can't get it to honk or get the emergency flashers to flash per the process... very strange.
