Default Interior mold.

My project '02 Disco has been sitting in my attached garage, immobile, for a year while I get her up to snuff. I hadn't opened any of the doors for a few months since I haven't had the need. Last night I cracked open the front passenger door so I could step up to get a boost while I fiddled with my garage door opener settings.

I looked inside and my first thought was, "I don't remember the seats being suede." LOL. Then it hit me. Yah, mold.

It's weird because my garage is insulated (not climate controlled). There's humidity where I live but it's been pretty dry lately. Anyway, I have a new thing to work on this weekend.

Water & Vinegar mix will help a lot with that, then get some of the humidity beads they use in RV's when they are stored and put the container it there while it sits..

If it gets really crazy ...and it's a nice interior you need to preserve -- leather masters makes a mold product I used in a similar situation recently. It's expensive but I used it on a seat cover that had mold and it worked when nothing else would. No damage to leather either.

I use the humidity beads that @Richard Gallant suggested in his post (I live the very rainy PNW and the D2 sits for days at a time between runnings) and they work great to keep the D2 dry. I picked mine up at walmart.

I'm fighting this with mine.. 80%+ humidity inside the rover everyday... I used vinegar/water and thought I was good, then moved it one day and noticed more mold. Went after it again with vinegar, and again, then with bleach a couple times. I finally just rented a mold fogger from Home Depot for my shed and garage and used it in the Rover. We'll see how that does..

I've used concrobium on mold in boats and cars before and it works great. Seems to prevent the mold from coming back as quickly. It's also not as harsh on upholstery as some other mold cleaners.

That's exactly what I used in the fogger. Hopefully the atomization got the cleaner into all the nooks and crannys.

So far no mold return, also just finished putting all the interior back in.

It's wild how mold can find its way into unexpected places. Even in a garage, it can take advantage of any humidity and darkness. It sounds like you've got a new project on your hands this weekend.Make sure to tackle it safely, though. Mold can be a bit tricky to deal with. If it's just on the seats, you might be able to clean them, but if it's in the upholstery or deeper, it could be a bit more involved.Stay safe, and make sure to wear a mask and gloves when dealing with mold. And if it turns out to be a bigger issue than expected, don't hesitate to call in the professionals for Mold Testing and remediation.
