Interior Panels
I know it's common practice with Defenders to re-do the interior in diamond plate aluminum, I've seen rear door plates with accessories like lockable cabinets and fold down tables and cook areas for Discos but haven't seen things like interior door panels yet. Has anyone done something like this?
For one I find the drivers arm rest on the inside and the one on the door to be really annoying since they're at different levels and there isn't much room on the left side for my arm. I'm assuming this is an issue for most broad shouldered people. I'd also like to do custom storage areas to replace the plastic pocket and build an enclosed speaker cabinet to help isolate that.
I'd love any pointers towards similar projects, using any kind of material really.

Just a word of warning about interior noise. You want as much squishy stuff as you can get to deaden the sound. I bought mine w/o a headliner and I was amazed at the difference once I got it installed.
Yeah, I have B-Quiet Ultimate on all the body sheet surfaces, some 2-3 thick, plus L-Comp and studio foam in some places. Still get a lot of transmission through the sunroof and firewall though, the firewall really needs to be insulated from the engine side but you need to pull the engine to do that right. I'll also be putting a brush/spray on damper on the underside of the body in the spring once I can clean it properly again.
