So far no complaints. It's been just as advertised since day one.

The only sort of ticky thing about it is that it won't save the position of the song when you turn the car off. That is, when you turn the car off and turn it back on it starts the playlist over. But since my iPod stays on shuffle it isn't that big of a deal.

When I ordered it the only thing I told them was that I had a 2003 Land Rover Discovery with the Alpine Headunit and I included a picture of the face of the headunit.

This one would suffice just fine:

If you're asking would I have ordered it all over again? Yes.

O.K. This unit does workI installed it in about an hour. But, I'm not sure why, it will only stay on the CD1. volume works on the steering wheel.I cant figureout why it wont change to different playlists. I was wondering why yours changesthe playlists. so my ipod sits in the middle of the truck. I would have preferred it in the glove box. this is what I have been waitingfor. no more fm connections. the sound is outstanding. other then not being able to use the steering wheel controls. any ideas?it's well worth the money.I love this thing

Hi,

Thanks for the info on the install - been looking all over the net for someone who has actually installed an iPod adapter. One question, are you still able to operate the ipod - change songs etc. via the ipod itself or are you limited to using playlists and controls from the head unit?

Thanks,

What a great write up with pictures to boot. I have one question, on the back of the radio where you plug in the blue connector do you have to unplug the cd changer, or is there a available spot for this blue plug?

GROM Audio does make interfaces for non iPods. There is a version that has a 1/8" mini plug instead of the iPod data connector. The benefit of the iPod version is that it charges the iPod too, while the mini jack version is only audio out. I'll be getting the iPod version in the next few weeks.

You have to remove the CD player plug to use it.

Worth noting: If you have a CD Changer installed, you can unplug it at the changer and install the interface there. You'd have to get creative on where to locate the iPod I guess, but it'd save you time on taking apart some of the dash.

Also, the non-iPod version will not control the player via the headunit. You'll have to change songs, etc. via the player itself.

There is also a Zune version of an interface floating around. I can't remember who makes it or the specifics, but it does exist.

JMT, that's awesome that the interface can replace the cd changer (mine stopped working a few months ago) and doesn't require removal of the head unit. How long is the cable from the interface to the iPod? I'll probably rest the iPod near the shifter if the cable will reach that far.
