Default Issues with Iridium Plugs?

Hi all,

I installed some NGK Iridium plugs on Sunday and noticed that ever since I switched from Bosch +4 Platinums, I get a slight hesitation and it feels like it's missing when I drive. I know that the Iridiums will throw codes on other cars, like my buddy's Trooper, but has anyone had any issues with them in their Disco's?

It is because platinum burns hotter than iridium.

And Copper burns the best of the three.

Pretty much Copper burns the best (which means a little more power) but needs to be changed quicker, every 15K miles or so.

Platinum is in the middle, good power and last a while. iridium doesn't burn nearly as hot but lasts for ever.

There are a lot of people on this site that swear by iridium plugs (and one that just likes to swear) but I prefer the platinum +4s. They have treated me good so far.

its all about heat. iriduim and platnum are about the same, they both are high temp metals, which means a small electrode can be used then copper or nickle. the smaller the point, the easier the spark. if youre having troubles, its probably not the type of plug, but the heat range, if the plug is designed to run hotter, it wont spark as well in a colder engine, which the disco is. same goes the other way too. if the heat range is too low, youll make the plug work as almost a glow plug, and itll get hot enough to make you ping even without sparking. everyone here says bosch +4, personally, ive never seen problems with the champions they come with, other then needing to be replaced every 50k or so

they run GREAT in my DII. I agree with above post, heat range or crossed plug wire.
