Default Jerky shifting after torque converter replacement

Just finished my TC replacement and took the truck for a ride. I'm not sure why but the shifting became jerky and it won't downshift unless i hit 2500 rpm, regardless of speed. Any thoughts on why would this be happening?

Also, i dumped 7 quarts of ATF fluid and it seems like it could use some more (it's not overflowing from the fill plug) should i add more?

You're following the correct fill procedure, right? Doing it while the engine is running?

The RAVE says filling from dry is almost 20 pints, which would be 10 quarts, right? Why did you stop at 7?

Added the missing fluid, and still the same jerky shifting. I'll drive around a bit and see if it needs purge air from the pistons or somwthing like that.

By jerky you mean harsh? Shift points happening at normal rpm?

Yes, maybe harsh or abrupt would be a better description. I need to rev it up to 2500 for the first upshift, then it seems to be going normal.

Did you do anything to the front pump while you had it out? Sounds like it is not building enough pressure to shift in to 2nd.

I did not mess with the pump. I'm not a specialist on A/Ts but that would be my guess as well. I'll start with bypassing the cooler and checking if there is no blockage there.

Another weird thing that happened, could be unrelated, but that would be a first: i stalled the engine by turning the steering wheel all the way while idling.
