What's wrong with you KingKoopa,? Why are you trying to help people learn something new? when we already know everything & are experts in oil technology,,
I plan on breaking in my new Turner 4.6 with rotella 15-40 and Lucas break in additive with ZDDP. After the initial 20 minute break in at 2000-2500 rpm, I'll take an easy 50 mile drive. Oil will be drained and filled with another round of rotella 15-40 and a new filter. I'll change again with rotella after 500 miles. Then, after 3000 miles, I plan on switching to Amsoil 10-40 permanently and going with 5000 mile change intervals. The Amsoil 10-40 has a really good level of zinc, and it's an awesome synthetic. That's my plan, and I'm sticking to it!
I run Mobil 5w30, I've run it for 18000 km with no issues, overtime I change my oil, it comes out looking pretty good. I've also noticed that my dipstick which was tarnished and dark brown is now silver. I've seen the top end through the oil filler get less brown as well.
When I worked for Shell, we didn't use Rotella oil in our own trucks. Just an FYI there lol
In my 2016 BMW I'm running 5w40 Royal Purple, but I might switch to Mobil 5w50 as that's what I used in my racecar.
I don't know much about oil and such. I use 1 qt of Mobil1 high mileage and the rest Rotella. Keeps the engine happy.
ZG- It is odd that folks from all around the Earth seem to think it's flat.
Change your oil often, use a larger filter and run whatever oil thru it you want, but a Buick 215 V8 is nothing like a Ferrari V8/V12 or something exotic it's more on the tractor side of the scale lol.
Yup, them fancy eegzotic cars got sum kind'a whichcraft afoot up in thar engines. Gotta use them right fancy lubricationistic erl and such... I ain't need none uh that nonsense! Ain't need no maths neither... just get to pass'n the biscuits and mustard, mmhmm.

My momma always says life is like a box of chocolates..... You never know what you're gonna get. Same goes with oil weights & how they work in certain applications/conditions.
