I plan on retiring a 2004 which is nice but has a small frame tweak which gives me a vibration over 70 mph. It also has a black interior which I hate cuz it always looks dirty.

 

CONGRATULATIONS on your 6th LAND ROVER, this qualifies you for a FREE HOAGIE!!!! Sorry, but can't guarantee it won't leak oil.

 

I bought my 01 back in 2011 with only 58k miles on it. I haven't had much trouble with it, but I definitely don't want another :-)

Bought my 01 last fall...and truth be told...and I hate jinx things...but it has treated me pretty good. Paid the same for it, 5 bills, needed trans, drive shaft and y-pipe to get it moving again. Was laying under it today at work, greasing drive shafts and thought something must be wrong...it doesn't leak anything, anywhere...and yes, all fluids are full...lol.

My wife's 03 looked like the engine was shoot with buckshot it leaked so bad, but that motor is long gone and the new one is getting the business before it goes in.

I dislike unfounded myths, fantasy and 'old wives tales' which most spoken about Landrovers are. All vehicles have their foibles and having owned LR's since the 1960's I've seen most peculiarities of the LR's none of which are insurmountable. Just take a look at the reports of other 4x4's and see what happens to many of them. Also take a look at many top expensive makes of cars 10 to 20 years old, if they still exist and haven't been scrapped.

 

slipped sleeves are insurmountable. ask me how i know.

 

Slipped liners can be moved past just like any other issue.
