Just to satisfy curiosity...Does anyone know if Land Rover Engineers and Executives monitor these websites and forums to learn what consumers want and what problems are being experienced?

I'd be very surprised if they don't visit all of the LR sites.

I know in the Audi community not only do representatives from VAG (VW Audi Group) monitor questions and concerns, but many are actually registered members and answer question when needed.

I also know that law enforcement agencies also monitor many auto forums for numerous reasons, they however do not post replies etc.

No, they don't, they have a hard enough time just trying to keep their jobs.

Hey, Land Rover Engineers/Execs, how about the front driveshaft on the DIsco II issue? Notice a trend here? Non-servicable u-joints right next to the cat converter, lifetime assembly, indeed! Might have been wise to shield the transmission case while you were at it. 7K for a new transmission, I didn't have to pay 7K for the whole truck

If they don't they are not very smart.

It's a direct owner community with real world data/feedback that they don't have to pay for, it should be a no brainer.

There could be like a customer relations sector that checks stuff like this but I doubt the head honchos check it. Hopefully they are aware of our wants and needs somehow!!

I was talking to one of my customers a month back or so, he and his wife both have Jetta TDI's but they are the older ones. They went to the dealer to trade them both in and get two new Jettas, the salesman told them that they are not available because the fuel here in the US has to high of a sulfur content and now that the Feds lowered the sulfur in our fuel VW will bring the TDI back.
They had to discontiune it because it could not meet emissions because of the high sulfur in the fuel.
He didnt believe the dude so he went to VW's web site and sure enough...they are going to bring the TDI back in the '08 or '09 model year.
So, my point being...is that why Toyota, Mitsubishi, LR, Mercedes, BMW etc. do not offer diesels here in the States? It makes sense. If you dont meet emissions then you have to pay a fine, which in turn you pass onto the customer which means lost sales.
So maybe if Tatra buys LR from Ford they will offer them? Tatra are good trks, they make good engines, so maybe?

Tata, not Tatra bought Land Rover a few months ago. Tatra is a Czech Republic company (if im not mistaking) and Tata is an Indian company. But still, I would hope Tata has a diesel in its plans, they dropped 2 billion on Jag and LR so you know they have the money to make some changes.
