Hey I just finished my gaskets and timing chain and I just wanted to thank all of those that post their experiences in this forum to help projects like this. I ended up painting my upper plenum and valve covers red and sanded off the tops to show the alum underneath kind of like the old mickey thompson valve covers from back in the day. While waiting on parts I took the time to do an HID projector conversion using the stock headlight buckets, it works great and uses 4300k bulbs.

It's a great feeling when you finish the head gasket job and she starts right up.

 

sorry for first time newbie post, but is there a good diy on the head gasket? i've never done one but i just got a 98 disco with 120 miles and they told me all it needed was a head gasket job, 1800 bux i figured i couldn't loose, but it doens't even try to start so i guess the compression is completly gone, turns over fine

 

Download the rave CD and read the shop manual. It has exact instructions with drawings even. I really never did much engine work before I did my head gaskets, just learned as I went along.
