The good news is that since you've gotten the family car situated, for less than 2 grand you can still get a Rover to play with!

I agree about the LR4 - if you could afford a 2012 Pathfinder than you should have just gone with a used low mile LR4. I love my 2004 Disco but if i had the money to afford a new LR4 you bet your *** I would buy one! They are considerably bigger than the 2004 Disco model, have 7 seater option and loads of features including the road response system. Either way good luck with your new rig

Congrats on the new purchase. We have an 2011 4Runner and absolutely love it.

Instead of spending 31K on a Nissan, i would buy 31 D1's and be set for life !!! haha

4 Runners are nice, usually can't go wrong with Toyota. Hope you enjoy it!

All,

Yes the LR4 was on the short list, as was an X5, both in pre-owned status (no way can we afford new on either). We were able to get the 4runner for well under 40k with leather/nav/3rd row in the SR5 trim, plus topped off with 100k warranty and all service to 50k included. One of the hidden gems of the 4runner is they get surprisingly decent milage for a SUV, I get a easy 17-18mpg commuting (in winter) and many get 22+ on the highway, llikey due to the part-time 4WD. Micheal said it best, now that the family rig is locked down I can start sniffing around for the cheap Disco camp truck. First I need to unload this...
