$7k to R&R a D2 engine sounds really high.

J White does do fantastic work but they are expensive. Interesting about the AB block warranty.

That is an outrageaous price. It does nto take anything like 40 hrs, more like 12. I can have a rover motor out in 4 hrs, 4 hrs to put it back, 4 hrs to hook everything up. Call Sarek Autowerke in Richmond VA, Hammersley in Lynchburg VA, or EurRover in Greenville SC. You can have it trucked to any of those for around $500 each way and still come out way less.

Definitely consider an LS swap.

Re: LS swap, that was my initial thought tho it seems like ACE is AWOL. Is there another option vs using the ACE kit? Right now my best option (other than selling it as is) seems to be an upgraded 4.6 from TWS, tho they will charge similar labor hours so the price is still way up there (the price of the motor I think is reasonable considering all the upgrades).

That was my thought as well: 40hrs?!? - thanks for the contacts. I could look at getting the TWS motor up here and shipping everything down to one of those places. Still looking locally for a shop to do the swap at a more reasonable price.

I used the ACE kit. Surprised that Todd at ACE isn’t responsive. I’m sure there are other options. CaptainAaron most likely knows if you felt like reaching out.

Here is a video of the cracked front cover (and assumed exploded oil pump). https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/t...ebf7213e77.mp4 - Starting to think that maybe I should attempt a new front cover and oil pump and see if the motor is still good? The motor ran for literally 0.5 miles post the simultaneous event of clacking noise and low oil pressure light. Starting to seriously wonder if I just do the front end that this thing might run.

You can drop the oil pan and inspect the rod bearings and cam lobs easily. If those are in good shape maybe you might be good. Get a good used OEM cover, no aftermarket.
